Tillandsia

Ah, Tillandsia—aka air plants—the quirky little guys that don’t even need soil! But don’t let that fool you: they still need water, just in their own unique way. Here’s how to keep your Tillandsia thriving.

Watering Tips

Watering is the most important part of air plant care:

  1. Soak in room-temp water for 20–30 minutes, about once a week.
  2. Shake off excess water—they must dry within 4 hours to avoid rot.
  3. Mist in between soakings if your air is dry (esp. in winter).

In humid climates: soaking every 10–14 days may be enough.

light requirements

Loves bright, indirect light—think east or south-facing windows. Avoid prolonged direct sun indoors (they’ll dry out fast). Grow lights work well if you’re low on natural light.

Tips & tricks

Enjoy moderate to high humidity. Ideal temp range: 50–90°F. Don’t let them freeze—cold = death.

info
